French school in Nice

The school where you will do your French course can be found in the city centre, a beautful building Belle Epoque, a short distance from Notre Dame Cathedral and the central train and bus stations. It was renovated in 2004 and has the most modern facilities to ease your learning during your stay. The students can go to the beach to relax between classes or in their free time, as the beach is just a 10 minute walk from the school. The classrooms are nice and bright. The school also has a common area and internet access for the students. 

The school has a very international environment. The nationalities of the students are very diverse: German, Japanese, Brasilian, Northamerican etc.

The first day, you should get to the school at 8:00. Once you get there, you will do a level test so you can be given a group. The classes start immediately after you´ve been divided into groups. In July and August, the level tests will be done on the Saturday between 14:00 and 19:00. If you arrive after 19:00, you will do the test on the Monday at 8:00.

Nice

This beautiful city offers much more than a simple holiday of sun and beaches. Nice is the capital of the "Blue coast" and is the fifth biggest city in France. Its great architectural beauty makes it one of the most important cultural centres in the region. The old city is made up of narrow, winding streets where you can find boutiques and little shops, as well as magnificent restaurants where you can try all types of fish and shellfish, and some delicious typical Italian or north African dishes. 

The flower market offers a magnificent sight to behold when the flowers are in full bloom, and at night becomes a lively spot with bars, restaurants and many jewellery stops. 

The city is also an excellent starting point to visit other attractions from the Riviera to Monaco, Cannes, Antibes and Saint Tropez.

Moving around the city

Buses: the bus network is extense. The majority of the routes run from 06:00 or 07:00 to around 21:00, with a more limited night service. You can get tickets from any newsagent or better, on the bus (single tickets only)

What to see in Nice 

Roman Ruins 

The Archaeological museums of Nice-Cimiez: more than a useum, it is an archaeological site, more than 2 hectares, where you can visit the amphitheatre and baths.

Fuerte Monte Albán

Constructed on a 220m hill, it is a massive work of the 16th century with bastions and thick walls. The view is exceptional, as you can see Italy and on the clearest days, you can also see Córcega.

Visit old Nice

The old city contains in its small streets some immense treasures.

The Opera

Opened in 1885, it replaced the old theatre that was destroyed in a fire in 1881.

Catedral Sainte-Réparate

The Cathedral takes the name of the Catholic patron saint of Nice. The Bell tower is from the 18th century. 

Albert I Gardens

A space of more than 2km2  from the sea to the hills. Today, it is one of the main leisure places for the people of Nice.

This promenade is known worldwide. It is a symbol of Nice, always full of flowers

 

At night in Nice

The main nightlife is the Vieux Nice and the Rue Massena, where the nightlife continues until the early hours of the morning. If you prefer a more relaxed night, you can go to the theatre, ballet or opera. 

  • Before: Modern bar in the city centre with its popular happy hour and DJ for those looking for a more sophisticated atmosphere. You must dress elegantly or prepare to wait for a long time in the entrance queue. 
  • Wayne´s: 15 Rue de la Préfecture. Tel. 04 9313 4699. It is the most famous local and most popular with people who want to have a good time. Situated just in front of the Palais de Justice, it is a good place to have a good burger and nachos at a reasonable price, with a youthful and friendly atmosphere.

The standard French courses are made up of 4 daily lessons, normally divided into grammar and vocabulary, conversation, reading and writing, oral and written understanding.

DELF Preparation course in Nice

This French preparation course will help you to get the qualification you need. With specific content surrounding the language, native teachers and classmates who share your goal, you will find it very easy to pass the test.

The programme is divided into three blocks, with a month for each one. Each block will give you a general vision of the course, so we recommend you do a minimum of 2 blocks but ideally 3, depending on your initial level.

How to get to Nice

The airport for Nice is the "Côte D´Azur". It is 7km from the city centre.

From the airport to the city: 
  • Train: The train goes from the airport to Nice station and St. Laurent de Var. The train leaves from the main station in Nice, right in the city centre.
  • Bus. The Ligne D´Azur offers a great variety of trips to the city. You can choose between travelling to the centre of Nice, to the central train station, to the shopping centre or going on a tour around the whole city.  You can get the bus number 23, to "St Maurice", to GARE S.N.C.F (main train station). From here, the school is a 5 minute walk away. 
  • If you go by train, the detination station is "Nice-Ville". From here, the school is a 5 minute walk, or if you prefer, you can get the bus number 15 or 12 (to the stop "Notre Dame").
