Study English in St. Julian Superior

Small and easy to explore, Malta is a fun and charming place to learn English. You can relax on the beach or visit one of the many places of interest that you can find on the island. Malta will always put a smile on your face. More than just sun, Malta is full of history and has great natural beauty, from neolithic temples to crystal clear waters.

Historical Interests

  • The position of Malta is right in the middle of the main sea routes of the Mediterranean.
  • It has resulted in numerous foreign invasions which have left their mark on the culture of the country. The island was colonized by the Phoenicians, Romans, and Arabs
  • In 1530 the emperor of Spain gave the islands to the Knights of the Order of San Juan, in exchange for two "Maltese Falcons" a year.
  • In World War II Malta was bombed mercilessly and played a crucial role in the Allied invasion of Italy.
  • After the war Malta was slowly gaining its independence until in 1974 it became an independent republic.
  • In 2004 it became a member of the European Union, and since 2008 it belongs to the European Schengen free movement of citizens.
  • The latest invasion is students from around the world who come to learn English and have fun every year.

Leisure

Malta is an island with lots going on and lots of atmosphere. The main street to go out on is St Julian Street. This street is where all the clubs and gambling dens are concentrated, so you will spend most of your nightlife there. Normally this is often the target after "heated engines" on rigor stop at the beach.

The beaches that you can not miss:

  • Paradise Bay is one of the most beautiful beaches in Malta. To reach the bay, a bit hidden, go to the penultimate stop of line 645, before Cirkewwa. From there, walk on the path for a mile to discover a flight of stairs. We recommend going during the week because the weekend it is very busy. It is also advisable that you wear goggles.
  • Ghajn Tuffieha Bay next to Golden Bay, but with more charm to separate from it being a trail. This pretty bay has the backdrop of hills and cliffs that extend in both directions.
  • What catches the attention of the Blue Lagoon are the dazzling turquoise waters. To enjoy it you have to get to Comino. Despite not being a fully-fledged beach, in the summer, the smooth rocks are crowded. It is also great to swim with goggles. A perfect place to photograph and admire the peaceful Mediterranean from the highest cliffs.

The Maltese food

Maltese cuisine is made up of a long relationship between the Maltese and Spaniards who have ruled the islands. The fusion of tastes has given Malta's kitchen a distinctive flavour in Mediterranean cuisine. Although it has many native dishes, many recipes also have strong culinary influence: (especially Sicilian) and Turkish.

The traditional Maltese cuisine consists of soups (minestrone and fish soup), pasta and pastries. Some typical Maltese dishes are ftira Biz-zejt, Gbejniet, pastizzi and Ross il-Forn. Thry are typical stuffed dishes and braised rabbit (Stuffat Tal-Fenek) is a national dish.

Getting around Malta

Not being very large, moving between the Maltese islands is relatively easy.

The public bus service in Malta and Gozo is a good way to get around, since buses cover the major tourist areas, they go practically everywhere and are cheap and efficient. The price of a ticket ranges from € 0.35 to 0.58 € and the longest trip lasts around fifty minutes; the average distance is between twenty and thirty minutes.

Another alternative is to rent scooters, motorcycles or mountain bikes, but this way trips are more limited because not all roads are upgraded for two-wheeled vehicles.

There are white taxis to pick up passengers at any point except at bus stops. Taxi services from the Malta International Airport to all localities in Malta are based on fixed rates.

There is a regular ferry service linking Malta to Gozo; the trip from one island to another takes about twenty minutes. There are also regular boat services between the islands and Comino
